SYNOPSIS

In this documentary commentary on the contemporary Asian human condition, director Jia Zhangke follows Chinese painter Liu Xiaodong in Fengjie, China, and in Bangkok, Thailand. In Fengjie, in the Three Gorges region, the painter sketches 12 construction workers for the oil series “Warm Bed.” Later, in Bangkok, the painter sketches 12 tropical women for the same series.  Despite their differences, Jia Zhangke finds a mutual state of mind between the two cities, cultures …
