Venice 2014 – Horizons
Tim is a good kid. Tim is a criminal. Tim needs to earn money. Tim has no job. But Tim works. Tim is a small-time fence, selling stolen items.
Tim cares for those close to him and knows his responsibilities towards them. His older brother Greg is recently out of prison. His sister and dependent Helen is lying about attending school. His girlfriend Lilly loves and trusts him. And Tim loves Lilly—in her he finds refuge and he feels hope.
But when his supplier is brutally attacked, Tim’s world takes on a new dimension of menace. There are dangerous people who now demand things from Tim.
In desperation—hating the decision he has to make—he turns to Greg.
As Lilly tries desperately to find him, Tim and Greg know only one way to find the money he needs. They head out into the night…
An explosive portrait of an innocent in a guilty environment. From the director of BETTER THINGS (Cannes 2008 Critics Week).
